Y12 and interested in dentistry or medicine?

Training to become a doctor or a dentist is a great option for people that want to help others, but it can seem daunting. The Medview and Dentview schemes are 4 day courses run in April by King’s College London to help prepare for applications and study.

They are open to anyone who has started year 12 or an access course in London, and are interested in applying for medicine or dentistry at university.

This year King’s College London are prioritising Gypsy, Roma and Traveller students so be sure to spread the message – but the applications close 6th January.

In the new year we will be advertising more nationwide opportunities as well as opportunities for younger learners too – We’ll keep you all informed!

ACERT gives evidence to parliamentary enquiry

ACERT chair, Rose McCarthy and EC member, Brian Foster gave evidence to the Women and Equalities Committee inquiry on education inequalities in Gypsy Roma and Traveller Communities on 12th September 2018. This follows a written submission made earlier in the year by Lisa Smith (current chair) and Margaret Wood, EC member. You can watch Parliament TV coverage of the session here.

Powerful women

The 2018 conference lived up to and maybe exceeded our expectations. We heard about powerful Gypsy women in history, strong women in the circus, Traveller activism in Ireland , videos, poetry and personal testimonies. Laughter, applause, conversation and community. A very special occasion.
